Everybody Loves A Critic!
Hello everybody, I'm Kash. You may not have heard of me, but all of you will grow to love me. In any case, I was notified via email of this forum being resurrected, needless to say the promo piqued my interest and here I am. Now, I'm here because I figured this forum might be in need of a critic. And I thought I might as well review it myself. So, let this be a warning, in my time here, I will carefully study the forum, and look at the following categories extensively:
1. Design & Interface
2. Content
3. Management
4. Community
5. Overall Experience
Then I shall submit a review, detailing my thoughts and criticism meticulously on all categories.
My first impressions of this place is that I'm a bit turned off by the look of this. It's has a bit too much of a "Disney-Pretty-Princess" vibe to it, and the glittery cursor isn't doing it any favors. If the whole idea is to make it purple, because that's "the color of royalty" than I recommend a darker shade. And frankly, I'm not a huge fan of the typical private forum thing that "Maple forums" go for. Seems too much like an exclusive club type thing to me, and it can shun a lot of potential members, which is especially bad for a start-up.
The promo was nice enough to drag me in here; albeit that the text could have been more nicely placed in it. In any case, everything is subject to change here, and I do hope you lot will begin to implement changes soon. Preferably, with the design of it. Good Day.

Yeah, I get this alot.
Last time I checked I was a human being and not a program designed to spam the same form of text over and over again.
...I'll check again though.

- Spoiler:
- Hmm, we have a few members in the habit of putting their names at the end of posts here. I'll be sure to make a note of that.
To address your concern, I never meet new people with the intention of causing trouble for them. I feel that sometimes people misunderstand that, though I don't really go out my way to cater to everybody's sensitivities. I assure you I'm not here with any sort of malicious intent, just here for the fun just like any one of you. I'm glad I can voice my opinions here, and don't worry I won't actually say anything nasty to someone — unless I'm retaliating to an equally nasty comment that is, which in that case all I can say is "they started it"! I hope the staff don't play favorites here.

- It's been 5 whole hours, and only two people have welcomed me. Either not a very welcoming community or very inactive one.

Thank you, but I might have to wait till this forum gets out of its "infant stage". We'll see.

Much appreciated, there are no such things as favorites everyone here is equal. We don't shun anyone. Atm we are still trying to put things together the forum so please bear wih us. And don't worry people are still busy and a lot of the people are inactive so you will be welcomed by many more people once they are able to finally get on. Again please bear with us.

Welcome to RC! It's starting back up in terms of activity, so don't expect much from the get-go.

Thanks all. I'll be sure to keep in mind that this forum is just starting out.
On another note, can someone change my name to "EverybodyLovesKash"? As you can see I missed the "b" key.

Done, and oh boy am I late to this thread. Welcome to RC, Kash. It appears that most of your current concerns have been addressed, so not much left to say aside from enjoy your stay. However, could you post any other of your concerns in the suggestions section? An intro thread isn't exactly the place for it.EverybodyLovesKash wrote:

Thanks, and I will post the actual "review" elsewhere. But honestly, -- and I'm aware this might undermine your point about suggestions -- I'm not a huge fan of forum sections to begin with, they seem a bit outdated. I much rather prefer a steady stream of threads in one page where everyone can see everything at once. I realize they're a few benefits for organization, but to divide it by sub-categories to this extent seems cumbersome imo.
You get the issue of certain sections being more crowded than others, because a lot of people frequent only a specific set of sections, whereas having a whole stream of them all at one page will encourage much more activity in different types of threads than normal. And more activity can be better for the site at large.
If people don't like the sound of that, you can always split the forum experience in two designated modes if at all possible. One could be the normal way of browsing it, and the other can be my proposed one whole feed type thing, except we can have colored tags or something of the sort for each type thread. I saw this tag idea being proposed elsewhere online, and it was pretty popular, so I thought it was worth mentioning. What do you think?

Yeah, the excess amount of subsections, specifically in the art region has been brought to our attention. We considered collapsing them, but decided it was in our best interest to keep them. I know it comes off as a bit "overwhelming", but it also helps us maintain them in a more efficient manor, having them all in a single place could pose problems when it comes to sorting through them. I will however propose the idea of a split forum with our head admin. I doubt it's within the capabilities of a free hosting site, but who knows.
